Husband Fatally Shoots Wife During Argument in Ghaziabad: 11-Year-Old Daughter Witnesses Tragedy

On Tuesday, a man fatally shot his 45-year-old wife following a heated argument in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, while their young daughter watched, according to police reports.

Authorities stated that the perpetrator has fled the scene, and a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend him.

The shooting happened inside Ajnara Society under the Nandgram police station jurisdiction, where the suspect, identified as Vikas Sehrawat (48), allegedly killed his wife Ruby in front of their 11-year-old daughter Navya. Their older daughter Kavya had already left for school when the incident took place, officials confirmed.

ACP Nandgram Upasna Pandey reported that police and forensic teams promptly arrived at the scene after receiving notification. Investigators collected fingerprints from items scattered throughout the room, and the victim's body was sent for autopsy, she added.

Initial investigations revealed that Sehrawat, reportedly struggling with alcohol addiction, had been living separately for approximately one month. On Tuesday morning, he visited the apartment to retrieve his passport and Aadhaar card. During this visit, an argument erupted between him and Ruby, escalating to the point where he allegedly shot her in a moment of intense anger, according to police.

Ruby was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility, where physicians pronounced her dead upon arrival. The younger daughter, who witnessed the entire incident, is reportedly experiencing severe psychological trauma.

Police disclosed that the couple had previously been charged under the Gangsters Act by Modinagar police for their alleged connection to a murder case. Authorities are still verifying details regarding that prior case.

Investigators have yet to determine whether the weapon used in the shooting was legally registered or illegal. The ACP confirmed that a murder FIR has been registered at Nandgram police station, and multiple teams have been deployed to locate and arrest the suspect.
