6-Year-Old Student Beaten by Principal for Failing to Recite Multiplication Table in Madhya Pradesh School

In a disturbing incident from Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district, authorities have filed charges against a female principal of a private school who allegedly assaulted a six-year-old first-grade student with a plastic pipe. The child's offense was failing to recite the multiplication table of 2, according to police officials.

The incident occurred on October 11, but the case was only registered against Principal Shashikala Thakur on Monday evening after the child's family filed a formal complaint, confirmed Civil Lines police station in-charge Hitesh Patil on Tuesday.

Authorities have charged the principal under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, based on the complaint submitted by the boy's father.

According to the complaint details shared by Patil, students had been assigned to memorize the multiplication table of 2 as homework. When the young boy was unable to recite it correctly in class, the principal allegedly administered corporal punishment using a plastic pipe.

The abuse only came to light when the child returned home. Family members noticed he was unusually silent and withdrawn. During a routine clothes change, the child's mother discovered injury marks on both his thighs and face, prompting immediate concern.

The family subsequently took the injured child to a private medical facility where he received first aid treatment for his injuries.

Officer Patil confirmed that a thorough investigation into the alleged school assault is currently underway.
