Tragic Case in Tripura: 14-Month-Old Infant Sexually Assaulted and Murdered, Suspect Arrested

A disturbing case from North Tripura's Panisagar area has emerged where a 14-month-old child was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered. Police have arrested a daily wage worker in connection with the crime after the infant's body was discovered buried in a paddy field. The suspect, who had taken the child under false pretenses, will face court proceedings as the investigation continues.

The suspect, a daily wage worker, has been apprehended in Nilambazar, Assam, according to police officials.

Police reported on Sunday that a 14-month-old infant was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed in the Panisagar region of North Tripura.

Authorities have arrested the suspect, who works as a daily wage laborer, in Nilambazar, Assam.

According to Sumanta Bhattacharjee, Officer-in-Charge of Panisagar police station, the alleged assault occurred on Saturday, after which the victim was "murdered and buried in a paddy field in the area."

The suspect had taken the infant from her mother under the pretense of going out for a walk, he explained.

"When he failed to return the child to her mother after three hours, the parents became worried. As word spread about the situation, hundreds of villagers joined in the search for the missing infant," the officer stated.

"The child's body was discovered buried in a paddy field. Following the post-mortem examination, the remains were released to the family today," Bhattacharjee said.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and the accused will appear before a local court on Monday, he added.
