Maharashtra Man Charged For Raping Woman On Pretext Of Curing Evil Spirits

A 40-year-old self-proclaimed black magician has been charged in Maharashtra's Raigad district for allegedly raping a woman after deceiving her with promises of spiritual healing, according to police officials on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Abdur Rashid, also known as Babajaan, reportedly told the victim he would perform rituals to rid her of evil spirits. "Under this pretext, Rashid raped her," stated the official from Khalapur police station.

This marks the second rape case filed against Rashid in recent months. Previously, authorities at Santacruz police station in Mumbai had registered a similar case against him.

The police official indicated that Rashid had exploited the woman's vulnerability by claiming to have spiritual powers that could cure her through rituals and healing practices.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case as the accused faces serious charges for his alleged crimes.
