Three Accused in Bengal Medical College Gang Rape Case Remanded to 10-Day Police Custody

A subdivisional court in Durgapur has ordered 10-day police custody for three men accused in the gang rape of an Odisha medical student in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman district. The victim was allegedly assaulted outside her college campus after going out for dinner. Authorities are investigating to identify additional suspects in the case.

3 Accused In Bengal Gang Rape Case Sent To 10-Day Police Custody

A case was filed at the New Township police station in Durgapur following the incident.

On Sunday, a subdivisional court in Durgapur remanded three men to 10-day police custody for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a student attending a private medical college in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman district.

The accused individuals are facing serious charges including gang rape and criminal conspiracy.

The SDJM (Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate) of Durgapur ordered the 10-day police custody period after hearing the case.

During the proceedings, prosecution lawyers requested police custody to facilitate questioning of the suspects, which could lead to the arrest of other individuals involved in the alleged crime.

According to reports, the medical student, who is from Odisha, was allegedly gang-raped on Friday night outside the campus of the private medical college in Durgapur. The incident occurred after she had gone out with a friend for dinner.

Following the incident, the survivor's parents registered an FIR (First Information Report) at the New Township police station in Durgapur.
