Thane:

Authorities have filed a case against the headmistress and a teacher at an Urdu medium school in Bhiwandi for allegedly compelling a 14-year-old student to take his unit test while sitting on the classroom floor because of outstanding fees, according to an official statement on Saturday.

The student's father, who works as an autorickshaw driver, claimed that this humiliating incident has left his son psychologically affected.

According to the filed complaint, the supervising teacher, Ahmedullah, and headmistress Khan Atiha forced the tenth-grade student to sit on the floor during his unit test on October 3 and 4 due to his father's failure to pay school fees.

The father reported that following the incidents on October 3 and 4, he made several attempts to contact school officials, but they did not take any remedial action until he escalated the matter by filing a formal police complaint.

Shantinagar Police have registered a case invoking sections 75 and 87 of the Juvenile Justice Act against both educators.

Police officials are currently gathering statements from school staff members and witnesses to proceed with the investigation.
