Domestic Violence Report Leads to Illegal Firearms Seizure in Uttar Pradesh: Man Arrested After Wife's Police Call

Naveen Kumar faced arrest and charges under the Arms Act after illegal firearms were discovered at his residence.

In Uttar Pradesh, authorities apprehended a man following the discovery of unauthorized weapons and ammunition in his home. The police action resulted from a domestic violence report filed by his spouse, who also provided intelligence about her husband's illegal firearm possession.

Naveen Kumar, from Mewala village in Baghpat, reportedly attacked his wife and attempted to strangle her on October 4. She managed to escape the violent encounter and contacted law enforcement for assistance, simultaneously revealing information about the unlawful weapons.

Police officers promptly arrived at the village and targeted the suspect's residence. During their search operation, they uncovered three pistols and approximately two dozen cartridges wrapped in black material and concealed within a cooler, according to an official statement.

"The search yielded two pistols of 0.315 bore and one of 0.12 bore, along with 22 cartridges of 0.12 and 7.62 bore," Assistant Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh Chauhan of Baghpat stated.

Authorities arrested Naveen and filed charges against him under applicable sections of the Arms Act.

During interrogation, Naveen admitted to purchasing these weapons from an individual in Delhi. Further investigation revealed that he frequently intimidated local residents by displaying these firearms. Officials are continuing their investigation into the arms trafficking network connected to this case.
