Private Aircraft In UP Skids Off Runway While Taking Off, Lands In Grass

A private aircraft veered off the runway moments after takeoff from Mohammadabad airstrip in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad on Thursday while en route to Bhopal, according to officials.

The passengers, senior executives of a private food processing company, experienced a frightening incident as the aircraft momentarily lost control and skidded approximately 400 meters before finally stopping.

Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation, though preliminary reports suggest inadequate tire pressure may have caused the incident.

The aircraft carried several Woodpecker Greenagri Nutrients Private Limited officials—Deputy Managing Director Ajay Arora, SBI Head Sumit Sharma, and BPO Rakesh Tiku—alongside pilots Captain Naseeb Bamal and Captain Prateek Fernandes.

Manish Kumar Pandey, the company's Uttar Pradesh project head, confirmed the VT Day jet operated by Jet Serve Aviation Private Limited departed at 10:30am. Arora stated they would subsequently arrange alternative transportation from Agra to Bhopal.

Pandey suggested pilot negligence, claiming the pilot was aware of the insufficient tire pressure before departure.

The local fire brigade reported receiving no prior notification about the scheduled flight and alleged that required treasury fees remained unpaid.

Following the incident, Kotwali officer-in-charge Vinod Kumar Shukla arrived at the scene with Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Verma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sadar Rajnikanth, Additional Sub-District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar, and regional accountant Sanjay Kumar.

Both Captain Bamal and Captain Fernandes have not yet provided statements regarding the incident.
