RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has expressed that Maharshi Valmiki authored the Ramayana with the intention of reducing worldwide sorrow, emphasizing that Indians have a responsibility toward humanity to uphold this cultural tradition.

According to Bhagwat, while Lord Ram has eternally existed, it was Maharshi Valmiki who introduced Lord Ram into every household across India.

The RSS leader delivered these remarks during the Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti celebration in Nagpur, which was organized by the Valmiki Samaj Seva Mandal on Tuesday.

A statement released by Vishva Samvad Kendra, the RSS publicity wing, highlighted Bhagwat's praise for Maharshi Valmiki's greatness, noting, "It is he who brought Lord Ram into our lives." Bhagwat explained that Valmiki composed and shared the Ramayana because his heart was filled with compassion and a universal sense of belonging.

"He did this so that the sorrow of the world may be removed," Bhagwat stated, encouraging everyone to contemplate this concept.

He additionally remarked that Lord Ram provides lessons on how one should conduct their life.

"The Ramayana teaches us how family members should interact with one another; how an ideal servant should behave, how an ideal minister should guide the king. Shree Ram exemplifies these virtues, and his devoted follower is Lord Hanuman," he continued.

The Sangh chief mentioned that the Ramayana contains numerous examples of devotion, such as Vibhishana and Sugriva.

"For every type of person in life, Valmiki's Ramayana provides guidance on conduct. He didn't merely narrate a story; he gave us an eternal message for life," Bhagwat explained.

He noted that India is recognized globally for its spirituality, goodwill, and exemplary conduct, a legacy that originates from the Ramkatha (the story of Lord Ram).

"The goodwill in our minds towards the entire world originated from the Ramkatha, and its root lies in the compassion and blessings of Maharshi Valmiki," Bhagwat added.

He mentioned that current estimates place the Ramayana era at approximately 8,000 years ago. Bhagwat stated that a vision conceived 8,000 years ago can still be realized today through persistence, hard work, and continuous effort, within our current lifetime and in our nation.

"It is our responsibility towards humanity. Because we are Indians, it is our culture and our tradition, and carrying it forward is our responsibility," he concluded.
