Fatal Pothole Accident Claims Woman's Life in Maharashtra: Husband Survives While Wife Dies From Head Injuries

Anita suffered fatal head injuries after their motorcycle hit a pothole in Maharashtra.

A tragic incident occurred when 47-year-old Anita, who was riding pillion with her husband, lost her life after their motorcycle struck a pothole. What began as a routine journey back home ended in a devastating accident that claimed her life due to severe head trauma.

Anita and her husband Anil Patil were returning to their residence in Navje village from Palghar district when their motorcycle encountered a pothole, causing it to slip. Anil lost control of the vehicle, resulting in both of them being thrown off the bike.

The impact caused Anita to sustain critical head injuries. She was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment.

Anil was fortunate to escape the accident with only minor injuries.

Authorities are reportedly filing a case of culpable homicide against those responsible for the road's condition. Reports indicate that a contract valued at Rs 12 crore had been awarded for the maintenance and repair of the highway where the incident occurred.

The fatal accident took place on the Palghar-Manor-Vikramgarh-Jawahar Road.

This is not an isolated incident in the region. In September, a similar tragedy was reported from Palghar where a 55-year-old man identified as Pratap Naik lost his life after his scooter slipped into a pothole. Naik, who was traveling towards Virar Phata, fell onto the road and was subsequently run over by a tanker that was following closely behind. He died instantly at the scene.

According to a Virar police official, the incident caused traffic disruptions near the Regional Transport Office as crowds gathered to protest. The demonstrators demanded immediate action to repair the dangerous potholes and called for accountability from the contractors responsible for road maintenance.
