Tragic Death of 3-Year-Old from Undetected Dog Bite in Maharashtra Highlights Rabies Danger

A three-year-old child named Arman was playing outdoors when he was attacked by a stray dog. Initially, his family was informed that he had simply fallen while playing. They examined him but couldn't find any visible injuries, so they continued with their normal routine, assuming everything was fine.

Tragically, approximately 10 days following the attack, the young boy began displaying symptoms of rabies and subsequently passed away. This heartbreaking incident occurred in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

The dog had bitten Arman on the head, but the injury remained undetected as it was concealed beneath his hair.

Eight days after the incident, Arman began scratching his head persistently. It was only then that his family discovered teeth marks on his scalp that had been hidden by his hair.

"We weren't told about any dog attack. Arman himself said he had fallen while playing," explained Sheikh Rahees, the boy's uncle. "When he started scratching his head continuously, we found the bite mark and immediately took him to a hospital, but they refused treatment and referred us elsewhere," he continued.

Sadly, two additional hospitals also declined to provide medical care for the child, informing the devastated family that their son would not survive.

Describing Arman's symptoms, his uncle shared, "He became afraid of water. He was constantly scratching his body and trying to hide under blankets. Water was dripping from Arman's mouth, similar to how street dogs drool."

The family has been advised to get vaccinated themselves as a precautionary measure.

Deeply affected by the loss of their child, the family hopes to prevent similar tragedies in the future. They have urged local authorities to address the stray dog population and implement measures to prevent such devastating incidents from occurring again.
