Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a compelling speech at the inauguration of India Mobile Congress in New Delhi, where he strongly advocated for his Make in India initiative across various sectors.
During his address, PM Modi emphasized that the current environment presents optimal opportunities for investment in India, particularly in sectors like mobile technology, semiconductors, and electronics manufacturing.
The Prime Minister highlighted how India's democratic foundation, the government's welcoming policies, and ease of doing business reforms have collectively enhanced the nation's reputation as an investor-friendly destination.
"This is the best time to invest, innovate and make in India," PM Modi declared confidently to the audience.
Referencing his August 15 announcement, Modi reminded attendees that this year would be marked by significant reforms and transformative changes. "We are increasing the pace of reforms," he stated, though specific details were not elaborated upon.
The Prime Minister pointed to recent policy changes, including last month's rationalization of goods and services tax (GST) rates, which has made everyday products from shampoos to television sets more affordable for consumers.
Modi emphasized that India offers tremendous manufacturing opportunities, particularly in cutting-edge technologies, and called upon industry leaders, innovators, and startups to capitalize on these prospects.
Highlighting India's remarkable digital progress over the past decade, the Prime Minister noted that 1 GB of wireless data in India now costs less than a cup of tea, demonstrating the country's commitment to affordable connectivity.
"Digital connectivity in India is no longer a privilege or a luxury. It is now an integral part of every Indian's life," Modi remarked, adding that India currently boasts the world's fastest-growing developer community.
The Prime Minister proudly stated that India has established itself as the world's second-largest telecom market and second-largest 5G market, possessing the necessary human resources, mobility, and mindset to lead global technological advancement.
A significant achievement highlighted during his speech was India's development of its indigenous 4G Stack, placing the country among only five nations globally with such technological capability.
"The country that once struggled with 2G, today has 5G reaching almost every district," Modi concluded, underscoring India's rapid technological transformation.
