Dehradun Police Officer Suspended After Drunk Driving Incident Causes Multiple Vehicle Collision

Dehradun:

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Rajpur police station in Dehradun has been suspended following an incident where he crashed his vehicle into three other vehicles in succession, allegedly while driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police reports on Thursday.

The incident occurred late Wednesday night when SHO Shanky Kumar collided with three vehicles before attempting to escape the scene. However, witnesses at the location surrounded him and recorded video footage that quickly spread across social media platforms.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh reviewed the viral video, which reportedly showed Kumar behaving inappropriately, and immediately suspended him from duty.

The SSP also directed that a case be registered against Kumar for professional misconduct and property damage, after ensuring medical examinations were conducted on the accused officer and others involved in the incident.

Police officials confirmed that Sub-inspector Deepak Dhariwal, who previously served as the station head at Kalsi, has been appointed as the new SHO of Rajpur police station.
