Hyderabad:
Police report that a student was allegedly attacked by a group of individuals at a dandiya celebration in a Hyderabad hotel after he disclosed his name when questioned. The authorities have filed a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
Prior to this incident, Hindu organizations had urged event organizers to restrict entry of people from other communities to dandiya events, suggesting verification of Aadhaar cards and application of tilak as entry requirements.
The police registered an FIR based on the complaint submitted by Nehan Ali Khan, a 25-year-old engineering student.
In his complaint, Khan stated that while participating in dandiya activities at The Park Hotel near Raj Bhavan Chilla on the night of September 29, he was approached by strangers who inquired about his name. Upon revealing his identity, they immediately began to assault him.
According to the FIR, "He managed to escape and reached Panjagutta Police Station with police assistance. He later identified his attackers as Laxman, Deepak, Bharath, Chandra Kanth, and others. Subsequently, he requested appropriate action against those who unlawfully entered the dandiya venue and assaulted him."
Following his complaint, authorities registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal trespass and voluntarily causing hurt, among other charges.
