Tragic Discovery: 7-Year-Old Girl Found Murdered in Hyderabad Water Tank with Hands Bound Behind Back

Police have categorized the incident as suspicious death and are conducting investigation as a potential homicide case.

The body of a seven-year-old girl, who had disappeared since Tuesday, was discovered in a rooftop water tank in Hyderabad on Wednesday afternoon. The child was found with her hands bound behind her back, indicating possible foul play and triggering a comprehensive police investigation.

The victim, Humeyni Sumaiya, had been visiting her grandmother's residence with her parents, Mohammad Azeem and Shabana Begum.

Sumaiya was reported missing on Tuesday evening, prompting her family to immediately file a complaint at the local police station. Despite an extensive overnight search involving multiple police teams, investigators, and neighborhood volunteers, the girl could not be located.

The tragic discovery occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Sumaiya's mother returned to the grandmother's house for a final inspection. She was horrified to discover her daughter's lifeless body floating in the rooftop water tank.

Police were summoned immediately. Upon examining the scene, investigators noted that the girl's hands were tied behind her back, strongly indicating she could not have entered the tank independently and suggesting deliberate foul play.

"We are exploring all possible scenarios including potential family disputes," Police Inspector Anjaneyulu informed NDTV. "This is clearly a murder case, and we have accordingly changed the sections from missing person to murder."

The child's body has been transported for post-mortem examination, while forensic specialists have arrived at the location to collect evidence. Police have officially registered the case as a suspicious death and are treating the investigation as a possible homicide.
