Enhanced security measures were implemented throughout the four districts comprising Bareilly division on Thursday. Police forces, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been stationed across streets with aerial surveillance conducted via drones in preparation for Dussehra celebrations.

On September 26, approximately 2,000 individuals gathered outside a mosque in the Kotwali area following Friday prayers, resulting in a confrontation with law enforcement that escalated to stone-pelting incidents.

The unrest originated from the cancellation of a demonstration related to the 'I Love Muhammad' poster controversy, which had been organized by cleric Tauqeer Khan.

Divisional Commissioner Bhupendra S Chaudhary has issued heightened security alerts across Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, and Budaun districts.

Authorities have directed police to maintain vigilant oversight at Ramlila grounds, Durga Puja celebrations, and Ravan Dahan ceremonies, which traditionally attract substantial crowds.

"District magistrates, deputy collectors, police and administrative officials must execute their duties with utmost seriousness. Any negligence will result in strict disciplinary action," stated Commissioner Chaudhary.

Officials confirmed that intelligence agencies have been placed on alert status with surveillance teams deployed throughout the region.

"Armed police contingents are being strategically positioned in sensitive locations. We are implementing comprehensive security arrangements to prevent the disturbances experienced in Bareilly from extending to adjacent districts," an official explained.

As of Wednesday, authorities had apprehended 81 individuals in connection with the September 26 violence.
