Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the Dussehra celebrations organized by the IP Extension Ramlila Committee in New Delhi on Thursday.

Officials have confirmed that the Prime Minister is expected to arrive at the venue in Patparganj, East Delhi, around 6 p.m. There, he will participate in the traditional Ravana Dahan ceremony, which symbolizes good triumphing over evil.

The Prime Minister has regularly attended Dussehra celebrations in the capital in previous years. Last year, PM Modi was present at the Luv Kush Ramlila at Delhi's Red Fort grounds alongside President Droupadi Murmu. Together, they fired symbolic arrows to set ablaze the effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran.

During that event, the Prime Minister emphasized the festival's timeless message about courage, peace, and the victory of truth over falsehood.

In 2023, PM Modi participated in Dussehra festivities at the DDA ground in Delhi's Dwarka area. On that occasion, he encouraged citizens to embrace ten pledges, including supporting at least one underprivileged family. He received a traditional welcome before the much-anticipated 'Lanka Dahan' ceremony, with thousands of people gathering to witness the event.

PM Modi began his speech with "Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai" chants and extended his wishes for Navratri and Vijayadashami to those present.

He called on citizens to eliminate social evils like casteism and regionalism that undermine social harmony in the country.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the significance of shastra pooja (weapon worship) on Vijayadashami, explaining that in India, weapons are not worshipped for aggression but for protecting national sovereignty.

This year's celebrations at IP Extension are anticipated to attract large crowds, with authorities implementing comprehensive security measures ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.
