Owaisi questioned why India ceased responding to Pakistan following their truce agreement.

New Delhi:

On Tuesday, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi dismissed a hypothetical question regarding how he would have handled the Pahalgam terror attack as Prime Minister, stating firmly that he only "deals with reality."

During a media briefing, when asked about his potential response as PM to the April 22 terror incident, the AIMIM leader replied, "Mere bhai, ye khwab dekhne ka mujhe shaukh nahi (my brother, I do not dream about these things). I deal with reality and know the extent of my reach. Our aim is not just to sit in power or become ministers."

Nevertheless, he raised questions about India's decision to halt its response to Pakistan, referencing the ceasefire between the neighboring nations.

"As an Indian national, I must say, after Pahalgam, we had a real opportunity to give a strong response. Why did it stop? I don't know, truly, I don't know why it stopped...It was a war-like situation. Suddenly, operations halted. Why stop when the entire country was ready to deliver a decisive response? Now, you sit in Parliament and speak about gaining PoK," he remarked.

The devastating attack on April 22 claimed twenty-six lives, including one Nepali citizen, with numerous others suffering injuries when multiple terrorists attacked Baisaran Valley, popularly known as "Mini Switzerland" - a tourist destination famous for its scenic hills and lush orchards. Eyewitness accounts describe tourists frantically seeking shelter when gunfire erupted, but the open landscape offered little protection.

In retaliation for this deadly assault, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Additionally, India took severe diplomatic measures by indefinitely suspending the long-standing Indus Waters Treaty and expelling all Pakistani nationals. Pakistan subsequently escalated tensions by launching drone attacks against civilian areas in India.

By May 10, both countries reached an agreement to cease all military actions across land, air, and sea with immediate effect.
