16-Year-Old Bajrang Dal Activist Shot Dead Following Instagram Dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad

A 16-year-old Bajrang Dal worker was fatally shot over a social media post in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, according to police statements issued on Tuesday.

The tragic incident took place on Monday night in Dehri village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Katghar police station area. Police officials confirmed that a forensic team has arrived at the scene and begun their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Circle Officer Varun Kumar of the Katghar area stated that while the primary suspect remains at large, authorities are questioning family members of the fugitive and actively searching for all individuals involved in the crime.

Police reports identify the victim as Shobhit, who resided in Suraj Nagar Peetal Basti. According to investigators, his death allegedly stemmed from a dispute regarding content posted on Instagram.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Bajrang Dal members congregated outside the Katghar police station, demanding swift action and immediate arrests. The situation escalated into a tense standoff as workers staged protests and engaged in heated exchanges with police personnel, including the superintendent of police for the city.

Despite these tensions, the Circle Officer assured that "The situation is under control."

Officials confirmed that a post-mortem examination has been completed, and police forces have been deployed to ensure the peaceful conduct of the victim's last rites.

The case continues to develop as authorities pursue those responsible for the teenager's death.
