5-Year-Old Maharashtra Girl in ICU After Sexual Assault by Stepfather During Garba Festival

Police have taken the stepfather into custody following the incident.

A tragic incident has unfolded in Maharashtra's Akola where a five-year-old girl is currently receiving critical care in the intensive care unit (ICU) after allegedly being raped by her stepfather.

The sexual assault reportedly occurred while the child's mother was away from home participating in Garba, a traditional folk dance celebration, according to police reports.

According to the mother's statement, she had entrusted both her daughter and son to her husband's care while she attended the Garba festivities.

Upon returning home, the mother was alarmed when she heard distressing groans coming from her daughter's direction.

The young victim subsequently revealed the traumatic incident to her mother.

Immediately following this disclosure, the mother rushed her daughter to a hospital, where medical professionals admitted the child to the intensive care unit for treatment.

Law enforcement has confirmed that they have arrested the stepfather in connection with this case.
