Union Minister Chirag Paswan recently shared a moving testimony about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's personal support when his father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan, was hospitalized.
In an emotional post on X, Chirag Paswan described this period as one of the most significant experiences in his life, writing, "Those days were filled with uncertainty and helplessness-and during that difficult time, honorable PM Modi ji stood beside us, not merely as India's Prime Minister but as someone who felt like family."
Chirag recalled the Prime Minister's daily phone calls inquiring about his father's condition. "How is Papa doing now? What are the doctors saying?" PM Modi would ask. "This wasn't just a formality; it reflected the genuine concern of an elder who wanted to know every detail and assured me I wasn't facing this challenge alone."

According to Chirag Paswan, the Prime Minister's concern extended beyond just his father's health. "He was equally concerned about how our family was managing, how I was coping, and whether we were receiving comprehensive medical care," he noted.
During this challenging period, Chirag admitted feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about what lay ahead, but found strength in the Prime Minister's daily calls. "Hearing PM Modi's voice each day provided comfort and courage," he expressed.
Ram Vilas Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and a prominent Dalit political figure from Bihar, had served as a Union Minister under six different Prime Ministers, including Modi. During PM Modi's administration, he held the portfolio of Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, becoming an important ally of the NDA and contributing significantly to its electoral victories in Bihar in 2014 and 2019.
The veteran politician passed away on October 8, 2020, at 74 years of age in a New Delhi hospital, shortly after undergoing heart surgery on October 4.
Reflecting on PM Modi's gestures during that difficult time, Chirag Paswan remarked, "PM Modi leads the entire nation and faces countless responsibilities - yet he made time every day to support us. His concern wasn't political in nature; it was completely personal."
He further added, "For a whole month, the PM supported my family daily, almost like a respected elder from our own household. During that sensitive period, he gave me the strength to stand firmly for my father and family."
This experience, according to Chirag, revealed to him PM Modi's true character. "Despite shouldering the responsibilities of an entire nation, he still finds time to personally care for people during their moments of crisis," Chirag observed.
These reflections come as Prime Minister Narendra Modi approaches his 75th birthday on September 17. To commemorate the occasion, the BJP has initiated a 15-day nationwide campaign featuring various public welfare activities throughout the country.
