Muzaffarnagar (UP):
A woman aged 30 suffered serious injuries while her one-year-old son was killed following an alleged attack by her brothers at her residence here, according to police reports.
The victims have been identified as Choti and her infant son, Abhishek.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar informed reporters that on Monday night, Choti's two brothers allegedly entered her home with sharp-edged weapons and launched an attack, resulting in the immediate death of the child.
He indicated that a family dispute is believed to be the motive behind the violent incident.
Local residents reported that Choti had been residing with her son in a rented accommodation in Prempuri locality under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station, while her husband is currently incarcerated in connection with a theft case.
Police officials stated that an investigation has been initiated and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accused brothers.
