New Delhi:
A tragic bus accident in Andhra Pradesh's Alluri district this morning resulted in nine fatalities and numerous injuries when the vehicle lost control and fell into a ravine on a hilly road. The accident happened near Tulasipakalu village.
According to the district collector, the bus was transporting 35 passengers along with two drivers and a cleaner.
"Nine people have died. Seven injured passengers have been transferred to CHC Chintur, located 15 kilometers from the accident site. Rescue operations are currently underway. Once the injured are stabilized, they will be relocated to Bhadrachalam," stated the collector.
Reports indicate the bus deviated from the road while attempting to navigate a sharp curve in the forested ghat section, causing it to plummet down a steep incline.
A senior police official informed PTI news agency that the bus driver likely failed to notice the curve due to dense fog conditions.
The passengers were traveling from Chittoor to visit the Sri Rama temple in Telangana's Bhadrachalam.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences regarding the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF for the families of the deceased. Additionally, Rs 50,000 will be provided to those injured.
"Pained by the loss of lives due to a bus mishap in the Alluri Sitharama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF…" — PMO India (@PMOIndia) December 12, 2025
