New Delhi/Mumbai:

The auspicious beginning of Navratri, enhanced by the recent GST 2.0 reform initiatives, has generated significant optimism throughout the automotive industry, with dealerships reporting impressive sales figures nationwide.

The GST reforms have significantly reduced prices for both passenger and commercial vehicles, delivering welcome news to consumers.

Maruti Suzuki reported that its retail sales were expected to exceed 30,000 units on the first day of rate implementation, while Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) recorded approximately 11,000 dealer transactions, marking its best single-day performance in five years.

According to Tarun Garg, whole-time director and COO of HMIL, these results clearly demonstrate strong festive sentiment and customer confidence.

"As one of the pioneering automobile manufacturers to completely transfer GST benefits to customers, we are thrilled to enhance our customers' celebrations. We expect continued festive demand and remain dedicated to providing value and excitement to our customer base," he stated.

The GST rate reductions prompted consumers to quickly purchase their desired models at lower prices.

Maruti Suzuki indicated that customer response during the first day of Navratri coinciding with the GST implementation has been exceptionally positive.

The company's dealership network reported approximately 80,000 customer inquiries on Monday. With the price reductions, small car bookings have increased by 50 percent.

According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), automotive retailers experienced heightened customer traffic as buyers visited showrooms in substantial numbers on Monday to purchase vehicles.

Car dealers expressed approval for the next generation GST reforms, noting that these changes will enhance purchasing power and stimulate economic growth. They also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing these measures during the festive season.
