A 14-year-old student from Class 9 took her own life following an alleged sexual assault by a trainee police constable who resided in her neighborhood, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The accused has been formally charged for the crime, according to authorities.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday within the Sangipur police station jurisdiction, where the teenage girl died by suicide, as reported by Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Sanjay Rai.
According to the complaint referenced by Rai, the accused allegedly enticed the girl with promises of marriage.
An FIR has been filed against the accused constable who is currently undergoing training in Mau district. Law enforcement has dispatched a team to Mau with the objective of apprehending the suspect.
