Goa Authorities Demolish Second Illegal Club Owned By Luthra Brothers After Deadly Nightclub Fire

The Luthra brothers' "Romeo Lane" beach shack in Goa has been demolished following government orders after a fatal fire at their other venue killed 25 people. The brothers, charged with culpable homicide, fled to Thailand as authorities discovered both establishments were constructed illegally without proper safety clearances. Interpol is now involved as investigations continue into the tragedy at Birch nightclub, marketed as Goa's exclusive "island club."

Demolition At Second Club Owned By Luthras, Missing Since Goa Fire

New Delhi:

"Romeo Lane," a beach establishment in Goa's Vagator owned by the Luthra brothers, has been demolished following Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's directive. The restaurant was constructed illegally on government property—an issue that gained prominence after a devastating fire at the Luthras' nightclub "Birch by Romeo Lane" claimed 25 lives last week.

Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, facing charges of culpable homicide, fled India shortly after the tragedy, taking an IndiGo flight to Phuket, Thailand.

The Chief Minister's Office has verified that Interpol is issuing a Blue Corner Notice against the brothers. This notice enables investigators to collect information about suspects' locations from member nations.

The Luthra siblings established the Romeo Lane chain across several cities—including Delhi, Goa, and Haryana's Yamuna Nagar—after their initial venture, Delhi nightclub Mama's Buoi, achieved tremendous success.

The Goa location of Romeo Lane became a prestigious destination. Gaining entry was perceived as access to glamour, with the Luthras subtly connecting their brand to their luxurious lifestyle by sharing images of exotic travel and opulent living on social media.

Birch, marketed as Goa's "first (and only) island club," received extensive online promotion through influencer content, drone footage, celebrity DJ performances, and themed gatherings.

The club's Instagram account indicated it was hosting a 'Bollywood Banger Night' on Saturday when pyrotechnics malfunctioned and ignited the fire.

The bamboo structure transformed into a firetrap, while the small bridge connecting to the mainland and narrow access routes to the lake hindered timely arrival of fire services. Subsequent investigations revealed the venue lacked proper safety certifications.
