The elections for leadership positions in the Congress's youth wing in Mumbai were conducted between May 16 and June 17, with nine candidates competing for the presidential role. The results were announced on Sunday, with Shabrin emerging victorious by securing the highest number of votes, according to a party press release issued on Monday.

The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) selects its office-bearers through internal democratic elections rather than appointments or nominations.

Despite her non-political background, Shabrin has expressed her commitment to ensuring that under her leadership, the Congress youth wing will strive to represent and amplify the voices of Mumbai's young population.

As quoted in the party statement, Shabrin said, "The Indian Youth Congress has provided me, someone from a non-political background, with this platform. I extend my gratitude to the Indian National Congress, the Mumbai Congress, the Maharashtra Congress, and the Mumbai Youth Congress family for their guidance and confidence in me. We will endeavor to become the authentic voice of Mumbai's youth." She further affirmed that the organization would continue its efforts under the leadership of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib to strengthen the movement and protect democracy and the Constitution.
