Fatal Leopard Attack in Uttarakhand Leads to School Closures and Elimination Order

In Pauri district of Uttar Pradesh, a tragic leopard attack claimed the life of a 45-year-old man on Thursday morning. Following this fatal incident, local authorities have ordered the elimination of the leopard and declared a two-day closure of schools in the affected area.
The attack occurred at approximately 6:30 am when Rajendra Nautiyal, a resident of Gajald village, encountered the leopard with deadly consequences.
Upon notification, both police and forest department personnel hurried to the location to manage the situation.
District Magistrate Swati S Bhadoria, along with local MLA Rajkumar Pori and additional officials, visited the attack site to assess the circumstances.
The District Magistrate confirmed that the chief wildlife warden has authorized the shooting of the leopard, and a professional shooter has been positioned in the area.
As a safety precaution, Bhadoria announced that all educational institutions in the region, including government and private schools as well as anganwadis, will remain closed on Friday and Saturday.
The District Magistrate met with the victim's family to offer condolences and assured them they would receive complete support from the administration.
According to forest department officials, the bereaved family will be provided with a government compensation of Rs 10 lakh.
