A tragic incident unfolded at the Railway Protection Force (RPF) post in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, when a head constable was fatally shot by his colleague early Wednesday morning. The shocking murder occurred at approximately 4 am, sending ripples of concern throughout the security forces. Police have taken the accused head constable into custody and confiscated the weapon used in the deadly assault.

Head Constable PK Mishra was performing his duties when he was allegedly shot four times by his fellow officer, Head Constable KS Lader. According to preliminary investigations, Lader utilized his service pistol in the attack, resulting in Mishra's immediate death. Reports indicate that Mishra suffered extensive bleeding and died at the scene.

The two officers had both been stationed at the Raigarh RPF post and shared a long professional history. Remarkably, they were not only colleagues but also batchmates who joined the force together in 2001, and were generally considered to be close friends.

The alleged shooter, Head Constable S Lader, who originates from Bhatapara in Janjgir, was apprehended shortly after the incident.

While the exact motivation behind the shooting remains under investigation, early reports suggest the two officers may have engaged in a disagreement shortly after their shift ended, which subsequently escalated to violence.

Investigators are thoroughly examining all potential motives, including both personal disagreements and work-related conflicts.

The gunshots created immediate panic within the RPF facility, with personnel horrified to discover their colleague dead. Senior RPF officials and local police quickly arrived at the location and secured the area.

Mishra had been serving at the Raigarh post for approximately three and a half years after being transferred from Anuppur.

Law enforcement is currently interrogating the accused officer to determine the motive for the killing. A forensic team has carefully examined the crime scene, and statements from other RPF personnel are being collected.

Officials have committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation and have stated that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on their findings.
