The footage captured a Government Railway Police officer repeatedly slapping and kicking a disabled man at a railway station.
Ujjain:
On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a disturbing incident of police brutality in Madhya Pradesh sparked nationwide outrage. At Nagda railway station in Ujjain district, a Government Railway Police (GRP) head constable was documented on video physically assaulting a person with disabilities, prompting immediate condemnation and swift action from higher authorities.
The incident took place Tuesday morning on Platform Number 1 of Nagda station, approximately 60 kilometers from Ujjain. A disabled man was sleeping with his belongings beside him when GRP Head Constable Mansingh, wearing civilian clothes, approached and began attacking him. A passenger in an AC coach witnessed and recorded the assault on a mobile phone before sharing it online, causing the video to rapidly circulate across social media platforms.
The video clearly shows Mansingh repeatedly slapping the disabled person, followed by kicking him while the helpless victim attempts to collect his possessions and leave the platform in tears.

After the video gained widespread attention, GRP Superintendent of Police Padmavilochan Shukla ordered the immediate suspension of the accused constable. This action was taken within hours of the video becoming viral.
Mansingh later attempted to justify his actions by claiming the man was intoxicated and using abusive language, an explanation that failed to justify the excessive force clearly visible in the video.
According to the suspension letter, the officer's conduct severely damaged the reputation of the Railway Police among passengers and the general public.
The letter stated that the officer exhibited gross negligence, misconduct, and indiscipline, with behavior that violated the general service conditions under Rule 64 of the Madhya Pradesh Police Regulations.
As per the disciplinary order, Mansingh has been attached to the Railway Police Line in Indore and is prohibited from leaving headquarters during his suspension period without proper authorization.
What made this incident particularly appalling was its timing: it occurred on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a globally observed day meant to promote respect, inclusion, and equal rights for people with disabilities.
Instead, the disturbing footage from Ujjain revealed a troubling case of authority abuse and mistreatment of vulnerable citizens, leading to calls for stronger accountability measures within police departments.
