Tragic Third Suicide at KIIT University: First-Year B.Tech Student Found Dead in Hostel Room

In a distressing development at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, a first-year Computer Science B.Tech student was discovered deceased in his hostel accommodation. The student, identified as Rahul Yadav from Chhattisgarh, was found hanging in his room on Sunday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sonal Singh Parmar confirmed the incident, stating that officers from Infocity Police Station recovered the body. The student's family members were notified and were traveling to Bhubaneswar following the tragic news.

Police authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the student's death. Scientific teams have been deployed to the scene to collect evidence from the hostel premises, while fellow students are being questioned to gather additional information.

This marks the third student suicide at KIIT University this year alone. Previous incidents include the death of a Nepalese female student on February 16, who also died by hanging, and another female student from Nepal who passed away on May 1.

The recurring nature of these incidents has raised serious concerns. BJP MLA Saroj Padhi expressed alarm regarding the frequency of student suicides at KIIT campus. "We will place a demand before the chief minister to take stringent action against the persons responsible for the death of students in KIIT," Padhi stated while addressing reporters at the Assembly premises.

Police officials have assured that they are examining all possible angles in their investigation to ascertain the causes behind this latest tragic incident.
