Madhya Pradesh CM Sets Example of Social Harmony with Son's Mass Wedding in Ujjain

Yoga guru Ramdev performed the rituals for 21 couples

Ujjain:

Governor Mangubhai Patel on Sunday commended Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for establishing "a fine example of social harmony" by arranging his younger son's wedding at a mass ceremony in Ujjain.

Dr. Abhimanyu, the CM's son, was married to Dr. Ishita during a collective ceremony that included couples from diverse backgrounds.

Patel praised Yadav for "demonstrating exemplary commitment to social cohesion," according to a government statement.

Yoga guru Ramdev, who officiated the rituals for 21 couples, noted that Yadav was the first chief minister to take such a progressive step.

"The gesture provides an inspiring model for influential, political and affluent families, and can help reduce excessive spending in weddings while encouraging middle and lower middle-class families. The CM's initiative reflected the spirit of 'sabka saath, sabka vikas'," Ramdev added.

Couples representing all sections of society, including those from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, participated in the mass marriage event, which followed Sanatan traditions, CM Yadav stated.

Hindu preacher Dhirendra Shastri advocated for promoting such mass, economical wedding ceremonies.

The event conveyed the message of the Bhagavad Gita and exhibited social harmony beyond discrimination, he further mentioned.

Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, Mansa Devi Trust Haridwar president and mahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj, together with Juna Akhada chief patron and Parishad general secretary Swami Hari Giri Maharaj, announced a contribution of Rs 1 lakh to each newly married couple.

All couples, including Dr. Abhimanyu and Dr. Ishita, received blessings from saints. Event organizers managed arrangements, including food, in accordance with the spirit of the mass ceremony, with assistance from local police, administration and social workers.

Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey, MP assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, ministers, MLAs, among others, extended their blessings to the newlyweds.
