Imran Khan's Health Status: Pakistan Officials Refute Death Rumors While Former PM Remains in Adiala Jail

Pakistani government officials confirmed on Wednesday that Imran Khan remains in stable condition inside Adiala Jail, refuting circulating rumors about his death in custody or secret relocation from the Rawalpindi facility.

"Reports regarding his transfer from Adiala Jail are entirely false. He is in perfect health and receiving comprehensive medical care," officials from Rawalpindi prison stated, according to Geo News.

This clarification emerged following allegations from Khan's sisters—Noreen Niazi, Aleema Khan, and Dr. Uzma Khan—who claimed they were "brutally" attacked outside the jail during their attempt to visit him last week. They reported being denied access to their brother for more than three weeks.

Their assertions sparked widespread online speculation, further fueled by an Afghan news report suggesting that the 72-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder had died following "mistreatment" and that his remains had been removed from Adiala.

These rumors quickly went viral, causing Khan's name to trend globally for two consecutive days. The PTI demanded an immediate official statement and urged authorities to permit family visitation without further delay.

Adiala Jail administration insisted that Khan's health status remains stable and that he continues to receive regular medical attention. "Speculation regarding his health condition is unfounded," the administration declared, as reported by Geo News.

Imran Khan, who served as Pakistan's 19th prime minister from 2018 to 2022, has been detained since August 2023 and faces numerous charges including corruption and terrorism allegations, following his removal through a parliamentary no-confidence vote.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif claimed the former prime minister was enjoying "premium facilities" while in custody. "Examine the menu of food provided to him—it's not even available in five-star hotels," Asif remarked, adding that Khan had access to television, exercise equipment, a double bed, and a "velvet mattress."

Drawing a comparison to his own incarceration experience, Asif stated, "We slept on cold floors, consumed jail food, and had only two blankets during January with no hot water available."
