Donald Trump and Jimmy Kimmel have reignited their ongoing feud with another public exchange of criticism.
During Thursday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC, the host responded to Trump's social media attack where the President called him "a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS" and demanded ABC "Get the bum off the air!!!"
Kimmel responded with characteristic humor, mocking Trump's approval ratings: "He keeps saying we have bad ratings. And you should listen to him – because if anyone knows about bad ratings – it's that guy!"
The late-night host noted that Trump's post appeared just minutes after his show's East Coast broadcast ended, suggesting the President was watching live. "Hi, Mr President, how are you? Thanks for watching us on TV instead of YouTube. It's viewers like you who keep us on the air, ironically," Kimmel quipped.
He continued, "It's also sweet that even in the middle of the biggest sex scandal in the history of the American presidency, he takes precious time on the toilet to post about our show."
Describing his reaction to Trump's latest call for his termination, Kimmel shared a personal anecdote: "I woke up this morning, I'm in bed, my wife comes out of the bathroom – she's got her phone. She goes, 'Um, Trump tweeted you should be fired again.' I was like, 'Oh,' and then I went downstairs and made bagels for the kids."
This isn't the first clash between the two. Kimmel's show was briefly suspended by ABC in September following comments about right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk's assassination. Trump celebrated that suspension, calling Kimmel's show "ratings-challenged" and praising ABC for "finally having the courage to do what had to be done."
ABC's parent company Disney faced significant backlash, and Kimmel returned to air within a week.
Addressing the September incident, Kimmel proposed a deal to the President: "You've done this before. You tried to get me fired in September. It didn't work. Mr President, I admire your tenacity. If you're watching tonight, which I presume you are, how about this? I'll go when you go."
Kimmel concluded his monologue with a reference to Trump's recent "Quiet, piggy" comment to a Bloomberg reporter who questioned him about the Epstein files. "We'll be a team. Let's ride off into the sunset together – like Butch Cassidy and the Suntan Kid. And until then – if I may borrow a phrase from you… quiet, Piggy!"
Notably, Kimmel's contract ends after the current season, and he has not yet announced whether he will continue hosting the show beyond that point.
