Dr. Gabrielle Henry, representing Miss Jamaica, experienced an unfortunate accident during the preliminary evening gown competition at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand. The 28-year-old ophthalmologist fell from the stage while showcasing an elegant orange gown and high heels on November 19.
Video footage captured the moment when Henry, after striking a pose at the front of the runway, accidentally stepped off the platform's edge and fell. Emergency personnel quickly responded to the situation, and the beauty queen was transported on a stretcher to Paolo Rangsit Hospital for immediate medical evaluation.
Fortunately, Miss Universe Organization President Raul Rocha later confirmed that Henry sustained only minor injuries with no broken bones. She remained under observation overnight as a precautionary measure. Thai pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil suggested that nervousness may have been a contributing factor to the incident.

"She was rushed to the Paolo Rangsit Hospital, where medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries," stated the organization on Instagram. "However, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery."
The organization urged supporters to "stay upbeat, lift her in prayer, and send positive thoughts as she receives the necessary medical care."
It remains unclear whether Henry will be able to participate in the final rounds of the competition. This incident follows earlier controversy surrounding the pageant when an executive publicly criticized Miss Mexico.
Beyond her pageant participation, Dr. Henry has established herself as an ophthalmologist and humanitarian, founding the See Me Foundation, which advocates for visually impaired individuals throughout Jamaica.
