London has maintained its position as the world's premier city for the 11th consecutive year, according to the latest report released by Resonance Consultancy in collaboration with Ipsos.
The World's Best Cities Report for 2026 highlights that London, dubbed the "Capital of Capitals," outshined all competitors by achieving top scores across three critical metrics: ranking second in both prosperity and lovability categories, while securing third place for liveability.
This comprehensive report presents a ranking of the top 100 global cities for living, working, and visiting in 2025-2026. European cities dominate the list, with only two Asian metropolises breaking into the elite group.
New York City claims the second position, recognized as the "Perpetual heartbeat of America," followed by Paris in third place. Tokyo secures fourth position, Madrid ranks fifth, and Singapore holds the sixth spot in the global ranking.
Rome stands at seventh place, while Dubai maintains its status as the highest-ranked West Asian city at eighth. Berlin and Barcelona complete the top 10 at ninth and tenth positions respectively.
Tokyo and Singapore represent Asia in the top 10 rankings, positioned at fourth and sixth respectively, demonstrating their global significance.
Among Indian cities, Bengaluru leads the national standings at 29th place globally. Often referred to as the "Silicon Valley of India," the tech hub outpaces Mumbai (40th), Delhi (54th), and Hyderabad (82nd) in the worldwide rankings.
The methodology for these rankings involved evaluating over 270 cities worldwide, each with populations exceeding one million residents, to determine which urban centers deliver the best overall experience. The assessment examined various aspects of urban living including education, culture, connectivity, nightlife, safety, and numerous other indicators.
Following this comprehensive analysis, each city received a Place Power Score based on three fundamental pillars: liveability, lovability, and prosperity.
Liveability assesses the comfort and convenience of urban living, encompassing factors such as cost of living, cleanliness, and health services.
Lovability measures residents' happiness and satisfaction with their city, while prosperity reflects economic growth potential through job opportunities, educational resources, and income levels.
To evaluate a city's prosperity, researchers examined the infrastructure that facilitates economic development and attracts talent. Additionally, corporate presence and a thriving startup ecosystem were considered as indicators of innovation capacity, job creation potential, and global competitiveness.
