Sarabjeet Kaur entered Pakistan via Wagah border.
A Pakistan high court issued an order on Tuesday directing police to cease harassment of an Indian Sikh woman who converted to Islam and married a local Muslim man she met through social media.
Sarabjeet Kaur, aged 48, was among 2,000 Sikh pilgrims who entered Pakistan through the Wagah border from India earlier this month to participate in celebrations commemorating Guru Nanak's birth anniversary.
While the pilgrim group returned to India on November 13, Kaur was reported missing.
According to a senior police official in Lahore, Kaur married Nasir Hussain from Sheikhupura district, approximately 50 kilometers from Lahore, just one day after her arrival in Pakistan on November 4.
When the pilgrim group traveled to Nankana Sahib on the same day, Kaur did not join them and instead proceeded to Sheikhupura with Hussain.
On Tuesday, Kaur and Hussain submitted a petition to the Lahore High Court alleging that police conducted an unauthorized raid at their residence in Farooqabad, Sheikhupura, and pressured them to terminate their marriage.
Lahore High Court Justice Farooq Haider issued directives to the police to stop harassing the petitioners.
In her petition, Kaur stated that a police officer subjected the couple to unwarranted harassment and attempted to force them to dissolve their marriage.
She mentioned that her husband is a Pakistani citizen, and she has contacted the Indian mission to extend her visa and apply for Pakistani nationality.
In a social media video, Kaur revealed that she had known Hussain for nine years through Facebook.
"As a divorcee, I wanted to marry Hussain, which is why I came here," she explained, adding that both she and her husband were experiencing harassment from police and unknown individuals. Before the nikah ceremony, Kaur received the Muslim name Noor. "I married Hussain willingly," she stated. Kaur is originally from Amanipur village in India's Kapurthala district.
Police in India's Punjab state are currently investigating her disappearance.
Previous reports indicated that Kaur's former husband has been living abroad for many years. She has two sons.
