Chinese National Sentenced to Life in UK for Extensive Sexual Crimes: "Most Prolific Sex Offender"

A Chinese national described by British law enforcement as "one of the most prolific sex offenders of all time" received a life imprisonment sentence on Friday.

Chao Xu admitted guilt to 24 sexual offenses committed over a three-year period, including rape, assault by penetration, sexual assault, upskirting, and voyeurism.

According to the ruling delivered at Woolwich Crown Court in London, he must serve a minimum of 14 years, as stated by the Metropolitan Police.

Authorities reported that Xu exploited his position organizing business events for a university to drug and subsequently rape women.

The 33-year-old recorded his attacks using hidden cameras positioned throughout his apartment, according to police information.

He also filmed individuals without their knowledge in public spaces, including the crowded London Bridge Underground station.

Law enforcement officials confirmed identification of seven victims of serious assault but noted that the "scale of offending is far greater," with potentially hundreds more victims of voyeurism.

"We believe he is one of the most prolific sex offenders of all time," stated Lewis Sanderson, an acting detective superintendent with the force.
