President Trump Announces Progress on Fair Trade Deal with India to Boost Economic and Security Relations

President Donald Trump expressed confidence on Monday regarding the United States' progress toward establishing a fair trade agreement with India that would strengthen economic and security relations between both nations, enhance US energy exports, and stimulate investments in key American sectors.

"We're getting a fair deal, just a fair trade deal," Trump stated to reporters in the Oval Office during the swearing-in ceremony for Sergio Gor, his new ambassador to India. He emphasized that this agreement would be "much different deal than we had in the past."

The President reiterated his positive outlook on the negotiations, stating twice that "We're getting close" to finalizing the agreement.

The discussions are taking place in Washington as both countries seek to forge stronger bilateral ties through expanded trade opportunities and strategic partnerships.
