Turkey Issues Arrest Warrants Against Netanyahu and Israeli Officials for Alleged Gaza Genocide

Turkey has issued arrest warrants charging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 36 other officials with genocide and crimes against humanity over military operations in Gaza. The warrants reference systematic violations and the bombing of a Turkish-built hospital, as a fragile ceasefire holds under a US-brokered peace plan.

Turkey Issues

Turkey officially announced on Friday that it has issued arrest warrants on genocide charges against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several high-ranking officials in his administration.

The Istanbul prosecutor's office stated that the warrants include 37 suspects, notably Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and army chief Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir. The complete list of named individuals was not published in the statement.

Turkish authorities have leveled accusations of "genocide and crimes against humanity" against the officials, claiming that Israel has "perpetrated systematically" these crimes in Gaza.

The prosecutor's statement specifically mentioned the "Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital," a facility constructed by Turkey in the Gaza Strip that was bombed by Israel in March.

Last year, Turkey joined South Africa's case before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) accusing Israel of genocide.

A tenuous ceasefire has been in effect in the devastated Palestinian territory since October 10, implemented as part of US President Donald Trump's broader regional peace initiative.
