Erika broke down emotionally while viewing footage of her deceased husband during the interview.
Erika Kirk, widow of deceased conservative leader Charlie Kirk, has addressed public scrutiny of her actions during her first public statement since footage of her embracing US Vice President JD Vance became widely discussed online.
Speaking with Fox News at Turning Point USA headquarters, Erika confronted the controversy while advocating for transparency in upcoming legal proceedings against Tyler Robinson, the individual charged with her husband's homicide.
"Cameras were present when my husband was killed," she explained to Watters. "Cameras have been recording my friends and family in their grief. Cameras have been following me constantly. Scrutinizing every movement I make, every smile, every tear. We should have cameras present in court."
"What reason is there not to be transparent?" she added. "There's nothing concealed. I'm certain of this because I've reviewed the foundation of the case. Allow everyone to witness true malevolence. This situation could influence this generation and those that follow."
Erika, who recently stepped into the position of CEO at Turning Point USA, has received criticism from commentators questioning the timing of her public engagements following her husband's passing. The situation intensified after video emerged showing her introducing Vice President JD Vance at the organization's Mississippi event.
"Charlie can never be replaced, but I notice certain characteristics of my husband in Vice President JD Vance," she remarked during his introduction.
When Vance approached the podium, they shared a close embrace. Reports indicate the Vice President placed his hands on Erika's waist while she ran her fingers through his hair.
During her Fox News appearance, Erika became emotional watching footage of her late husband. "I apologize. Please give me a moment," she said with tears. "This is the most extended video I've watched of him. I just need a moment."
When Watters mentioned Charlie Kirk's mission to "preserve Western civilization" and asked if Erika had committed to that cause, she responded quietly, "I didn't commit to any cause. I simply married the person I loved most."
At Charlie Kirk's memorial ceremony on September 21, Erika delivered a heartfelt tribute, expressing forgiveness toward her husband's alleged killer.
"Charlie wanted to help young men just like the individual who ended his life," she stated. "That man, that young man, I forgive him," she added tearfully.
