The renovation of the Lincoln Bathroom represents the first significant alteration to the White House executive mansion itself during President Trump's administration.
In the United States, President Donald Trump has unveiled yet another transformation of the historic White House, following his previous modifications to the property.
On Friday, Trump revealed a luxurious marble-and-gold renovation of the Lincoln Bathroom. According to images shared on his Truth Social network, the previous design featured pale green tiles and strip lighting, dating back approximately 80 years.
The newly renovated bathroom now showcases gold fixtures and mirrors, complemented by opulent white and gray marble walls, as displayed in more than two dozen photographs posted by the President.
"I renovated the Lincoln Bathroom in the White House. It was renovated in the 1940s in an art deco green tile style, which was totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era," Trump explained on Truth Social.
"I did it in black and white polished Statuary marble. This was very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there!"
This renovation follows the controversial demolition of the entire East Wing of the White House in October, which was replaced with a grand new $300 million ballroom.
Unlike previous modifications, the bathroom renovation marks the first major work conducted on the executive mansion itself, where the President resides.
The Lincoln Bathroom is situated near the Lincoln Bedroom, an elaborate room on the second floor of the presidential residence.
Historically, the Lincoln Bedroom served as President Abraham Lincoln's office and cabinet room before being renamed in 1945 when President Harry Truman ordered furnishings from Lincoln's era to be installed there, according to the White House Historical Association.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has mentioned staying in the Lincoln Bedroom multiple times at Trump's invitation while overseeing the President's Department of Government Efficiency cost-cutting initiatives.
Since returning to office, billionaire property developer Trump has enthusiastically undertaken numerous renovation and construction projects throughout the White House grounds, which critics have often described as ostentatious.
These modifications include adorning the Oval Office with gold decorations, replacing the Rose Garden's grass with an outdoor patio, and installing two massive flagpoles on the White House's north and south lawns.
