King Charles III has stripped his brother Andrew of all titles and evicted him from his royal residence.
Andrew's downfall, once a prince born into royal privilege as Queen Elizabeth II's son, was finalized on Thursday when King Charles III made the decision to remove all his titles.
Virginia Giuffre's family celebrated the king's action, stating that "an ordinary American girl from an ordinary American family brought down a British prince with her truth and extraordinary courage".
This represents a humiliating outcome for Andrew, who appeared to have embraced his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein.
Here is what we know about Andrew's fall from grace:
Andrew reportedly first encountered Epstein in 1999 through Epstein's girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell.
Epstein was convicted in the United States in 2008 for procuring a minor for prostitution and received an 18-month sentence.
Despite this conviction, the two were photographed walking through New York's Central Park together in 2010.
Andrew claimed this marked the end of their relationship.
However, UK court documents revealed this year showed an email to Epstein in February 2011 "from a member of the British royal family" believed to be Andrew that said: "Keep in close touch and we'll play some more soon !!!!"
Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of trafficking underage girls for sex.
In August 2021, Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Andrew, claiming he sexually assaulted her three times, including twice when she was 17.
In her memoir "Nobody's Girl" published earlier this month, Giuffre stated she was forced to have sex with Andrew on three separate occasions after being trafficked by Epstein.
The first incident allegedly occurred in March 2001 at Maxwell's London house when Andrew was 41.
According to Giuffre's memoir, when Andrew correctly guessed her age as 17, he explained his accuracy by saying "my daughters are just a little younger than you".
The second encounter reportedly took place the following month at Epstein's "garish" New York townhouse.
The third incident allegedly occurred on Epstein's private island as part of what she described as an "orgy" involving Andrew, Epstein, and approximately eight other girls who "all appeared to be under the age of 18 and didn't really speak English".
A letter filed to a US court in February 2022 by both Giuffre and Andrew's lawyers revealed they had reached an out-of-court settlement to end her civil case.
Andrew, making no admission of liability, agreed to pay an undisclosed sum, reportedly exceeding $12 million (£9 million).
Andrew resigned as a UK trade envoy in 2011 amid controversy over his Epstein connections.
Following a disastrous television interview in 2019, he withdrew from public duties and relinquished his HRH (His Royal Highness) title after denying having sex with Giuffre.
He also stated that he had "no recollection at all" of ever meeting her.
Queen Elizabeth II stripped him of his military titles and royal patronages in January 2022 after his failed attempt to dismiss Giuffre's civil suit.
On October 17, under pressure from Charles, Andrew agreed to stop using his Duke of York title.
His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who had borrowed money from Epstein, will also no longer be known as the Duchess of York.
On Thursday, amid growing public outcry, King Charles III moved to strip his younger brother of all remaining titles and evict him from the Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, where he had lived for two decades paying only a nominal rent.
Giuffre took her own life in April at age 41 in Australia, where she lived with her husband and three children.
