A social media influencer has drawn significant criticism online after showcasing her trip to Jamaica despite severe warnings about Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm predicted to cause catastrophic damage across the island, according to the New York Post.

The controversy erupted when the influencer, identified as Hannah Grubbs, appeared to prioritize her vacation plans over safety concerns and ongoing emergency preparations. She shared multiple videos across her TikTok and Instagram platforms in recent days, explicitly stating in one clip that she would remain at her Negril resort during the hurricane.

In one particularly controversial video, Grubbs remarked, "Hurricane Melissa out here messing with my vacation." Another clip showed her walking through an airport while saying, "Just two girls headed to Jamaica in a Category 5 hurricane."

She even captioned one of her videos with "Pretending there's not a Category 5 hurricane hitting Jamaica," which further intensified public outrage.

The backlash was swift and severe, with numerous social media users condemning her actions as insensitive before she eventually deleted the videos.

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness issued a stark warning to residents, urging them to follow evacuation orders and seek appropriate shelter. "There is no infrastructure in the region that can withstand a Category 5," he cautioned.
