Seattle:
Alaska Airlines announced Thursday that it has temporarily grounded its aircraft fleet due to an information technology outage affecting operations.
The airline shared on its official X platform account that it had implemented a "temporary ground stop" and advised passengers to verify their flight status before traveling to the airport.
Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations. A temporary ground stop is in place. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you're scheduled to fly tonight, please check your flight status before heading to the airport.
The company expressed regret for the disruption but did not immediately respond to requests for additional details. The grounding impacts both Alaska Air and Horizon Air flights.
Hawaiian Airlines, acquired by Alaska Air Group last year, confirmed that its flights continue to operate according to schedule without disruption.
This incident follows a similar situation in July when Alaska grounded all flights for approximately three hours after a critical hardware failure at one of its data centers.
The aviation industry has faced recurring computer-related disruptions, though most are typically resolved within short timeframes.
