Trump Warns Hamas: "Will Eradicate Them If They Don't Abide by Gaza Ceasefire Agreement"

US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Hamas regarding the Gaza ceasefire agreement, threatening to "eradicate them" if they violate the terms while sending VP JD Vance to Israel for high-level talks. Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya maintains the group remains committed to upholding the fragile truce despite implementation challenges.

Will Eradicate Them If They Don't Behave: Trump Warns Hamas Over Gaza Deal

US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Hamas on Monday, declaring that the Palestinian group would be "eradicated" if it violates the Gaza ceasefire agreement with Israel, though he expressed willingness to give them an opportunity to honor the truce.

Vice President JD Vance departed for Israel shortly after Trump's remarks, joining two senior US envoys as weekend violence threatened the stability of the fragile ceasefire.

"We made a deal with Hamas that they're going to be very good, they're going to behave, they're going to be nice," Trump stated during a White House press conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. "And if they're not, we're going to go and we're going to eradicate them, if we have to. They'll be eradicated, and they know that."

Trump played a key role in brokering the Gaza agreement nearly two weeks ago, but the deal has faced multiple challenges as Israel accuses Hamas of delaying the return of deceased hostages and conducting attacks.

In response, Hamas's chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya told Egypt's Al-Qahera News that the group remains committed to the ceasefire. "We are finding it extremely difficult to extract the bodies, but we are serious and working hard to extract them," he said in comments broadcast Tuesday morning.

"The Gaza agreement will hold, because we want it to and our will to abide by it is strong," al-Hayya added.

Trump has also cautioned Hamas against public executions of rivals and alleged collaborators as the group attempts to reestablish control over the devastated territory.

The US President emphasized that American forces would not be involved in confronting Hamas, noting that dozens of countries that have agreed to join an international stabilization force for Gaza would "love to go in."

"In addition, you have Israel would go in in two minutes, if I asked them to go in," Trump said. "But right now, we haven't said that. We're going to give it a little chance, and hopefully there will be a little less violence. But right now, you know, they're violent people."

"They got very rambunctious, and they did things that they shouldn't be doing, and if they keep doing it, then we're going to go in and straighten it out, and it'll happen very quickly and pretty violently," he continued.

Trump noted that Hamas has been significantly weakened, particularly as its regional supporter Iran is unlikely to intervene following US and Israeli strikes earlier this year.

"They don't have the backing of really anybody anymore. They have to be good, and if they're not good, they'll be eradicated," Trump emphasized.

Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser son-in-law Jared Kushner met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday to discuss "developments and updates in the region," according to a spokesperson for the prime minister's office.

Vice President Vance and his wife Usha later departed Washington for Israel without making comments to reporters. They were also scheduled to meet with Netanyahu, as confirmed by the prime minister's office.
