A 14-year-old teenager named D'Uwan Morgan lost his life when a stray bullet struck him while he was playing video games in his bedroom in Missouri, US. The tragic incident occurred on October 8 at his home during a gunfight between teenagers in the neighborhood.
According to authorities, police responded after receiving both a ShotSpotter alert and a 911 call reporting gunfire in the 10200 block of Hobkirk Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young boy had sustained at least one gunshot wound and was deceased at the scene.
The initial investigation revealed that unidentified individuals discharged weapons in the area, with two bullets penetrating through D'Uwan's bedroom window. His mother and two brothers were also present in the home when the shooting took place.
A family member expressed their grief stating, "He was minding his business, doing nothing. Just sitting in his room. And now he's gone."
Local residents reported observing a group of masked teenagers in the vicinity at the time of the shooting. These youths were spotted jumping over fences and moving rapidly between houses immediately after the gunshots were heard.
Mary Glaser, a neighbor, mentioned seeing groups gathered in the street who dispersed quickly following the gunshots. According to witness accounts shared with police, two groups of teenagers had been engaged in an argument prior to the shooting.
"They were firing at each other," one neighbor informed police. "There were no adults - just kids."
D'Uwan Morgan had completed his eighth grade just five months before the incident and was preparing to start ninth grade. His family remembers him as an intelligent, kind, and nature-loving boy who enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities rather than screen time or city life.
His aunt described him as a "beautiful, nice kid. He had a bright future ahead of him." Following his death, his bedroom now remains silent with a broken window where the bullets entered.
She revealed that his mother has been unable to eat or sleep since the tragedy. "She's completely broken," the aunt stated.
