US President Donald Trump has announced a decisive stance against what he terms "woke, socialist, and anti-American ideology" pervading American college campuses. Through a detailed statement on Truth Social, the President outlined his plan to swiftly reform higher education institutions and return them to merit-based systems.
In his Truth Social post, President Trump expressed concern that many higher education institutions have deviated from their historic role as strategic assets for the United States. He claimed these institutions are now "corrupting our Youth and Society" with ideologies that justify discriminatory practices he considers both unconstitutional and unlawful.
The President emphasized his administration's commitment to rapidly implementing educational reforms. "Our Nation's Great Institutions will once again prioritize Merit and Hard Work before 'group identity,'" Trump stated, suggesting these changes would foster new research opportunities benefiting all Americans while promoting equality across businesses, courts, and culture.
Trump promised rigorous enforcement of federal law against universities continuing to "illegally discriminate based on race or sex." He simultaneously extended an invitation to educational institutions willing to "quickly return to the pursuit of truth and achievement" to enter agreements with the federal government, potentially ushering in what he described as a "Golden Age of Academic Excellence in Higher Education."
Institutions entering such agreements would commit to following federal law, protecting civil rights for all campus community members, eliminating "racist admission policies," and ending "unjust and illegal discrimination in faculty hiring," according to Trump's vision.
The President added that participating institutions would need to maintain high quality standards, foster intellectually open campus environments including free speech protections, maintain institutional neutrality, improve student affordability, and sever connections with foreign funding sources.
Trump's October 12, 2025 post has generated significant discussion across political and educational circles. He concluded by asserting that Americans deserve treatment based on "demonstrated achievements and potential," claiming that restoring this "fundamentally American Value" would make the nation "unstoppable" while developing talent, cultivating patriotism and achievement, and making Americans "proud, safe, prosperous, and free."
