Uri Geller, renowned for his claims of bending spoons through mental powers, has issued a warning to US President Donald Trump regarding his upcoming Middle East journey.
The Israeli-British illusionist has expressed concern about potential threats to Trump's safety, drawing parallels to the 1981 assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. Geller pointed out that Sadat was killed by "one of his own" during a parade. This assassination was reportedly executed by Egyptian soldiers led by Lieutenant Khalid Al-Islambuli, who had connections to the terrorist organization Egyptian Islamic Jihad.
Geller strongly advised Trump to personally select his security detail and maintain heightened vigilance throughout his visit.
"Listen to me, Donald Trump," Geller posted on X, "Do NOT go to Sharm el-Sheikh, I have a TERRIBLE feeling there might be an attempt on your life! I am getting BAD signals. This is a GOLDEN opportunity for Islamic terrorists - you are the biggest prize in the WORLD for them! Remember Sadat was killed by one of his own security forces. No-one can be 100% protected, not even you. Double your security cordon and hand-pick your bodyguards. Do not move ANYWHERE without a ring of steel."
In a video statement, Geller reiterated his concerns: "I'm just very concerned. Very concerned...I say, don't go there. Don't go to Sharam and Shek. But if you do, make sure that you're protected, super protected, all around you. Don't let anyone close to you, and be careful. Be very careful, especially in Sharam and Shek."
It's worth noting that Geller's reputation as a psychic has faced significant scrutiny over the years, with many of his predictions failing to materialize. During his appearance on The Tonight Show in 1973, host Johnny Carson, who had experience as a magician, provided props that Geller couldn't manipulate, and he was unable to demonstrate any psychic abilities, according to The New York Times.
Although famous for supposedly bending spoons with his mind, magicians and skeptics have repeatedly explained Geller's performances as simple sleight of hand. Geller himself has used terms like "mystifier" and "showman" for self-description.
His prediction track record includes several notable misses. In 2019, he claimed he could prevent Brexit through telepathy, yet the UK departed from the EU in 2021. He has also incorrectly predicted football match results and in 2021 claimed he could free the Ever Given container ship from the Suez Canal, which was ultimately freed using tugboats.
Donald Trump's Middle East visit begins with a brief four-hour stop in Israel on Monday, October 13, where he will address the Knesset and meet with families of Israeli hostages recently released under a ceasefire agreement. Following this, Trump will travel to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, where he will co-chair a summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The summit aims to finalize a peace agreement ending the war on Gaza, with over 20 global leaders expected to attend. Trump is scheduled to return to Washington, DC, on October 14 to present the Presidential Medal of Freedom to conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
