Police officials are seeking an 18-year-old man for questioning following a fatal shooting incident on a school campus in Mississippi during homecoming festivities.

Heidelberg Police Department has launched an investigation into the tragic shooting that claimed two lives on Friday night at a local school campus, according to Police Chief Cornell White in his statement to The Associated Press.

Chief White declined to reveal whether the victims were students or provide additional details about the incident, maintaining discretion during the ongoing investigation.

"We currently have a subject at large, but I cannot provide specific information at this time," White stated on Saturday morning.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office has released a statement indicating that an 18-year-old individual is wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting. Authorities have requested that anyone with relevant information contact either the police chief or sheriff's office directly.

The incident occurred on the campus where the Heidelberg Oilers were hosting their homecoming football game. However, exact details regarding the timing of the gunfire or its proximity to the stadium remain unclear.
